Six riders from Gresham’s Prep and Senior School delivered impressive performances at the National Schools Equine Association show jumping competition held at Forest Edge on January 18. Competing against strong local opposition, the team secured multiple qualifications for further finals. Their achievements spanned various age groups and jumping heights, highlighting the school's equestrian talent.
The National Schools Equine Association (NSEA) show jumping event at Forest Edge brought together competitors from local schools, where Gresham’s riders stood out with consistent excellence. From the younger participants, Year 5 pupil Bea W achieved three clear rounds, earning qualification for the Hickstead Grassroots Final both individually and with the team. Year 7’s Darcy N contributed two clear rounds to support the team's success, while Year 8’s Mia R qualified despite four faults.
In the senior categories, the riders maintained the momentum. Eliza B secured victory in the 70cm class and helped the team qualify in the 90–95cm category. Year 10 student Hettie L placed fifth individually in the 90–95cm class and was part of the qualifying team. Teammate Georgia H also qualified with the team in the 90–95cm class before advancing individually in the higher 105cm and 110cm classes.
Throughout the day, the six riders—Bea W, Darcy N, Mia R, Eliza B, Hettie L, and Georgia H—faced tough competition but represented Gresham’s with pride. Their results underscore the school's strong equestrian program, blending skill across different levels and preparing them for upcoming challenges like the Hickstead finals.
