According to reports, Cabrera Díaz was pursued by armed men when he sought refuge in a food establishment on Prolongación Abasolo street in the Ruffo Figueroa neighborhood, near the Baltazar R. Leyva Mancilla Central Market. The assailants caught up with him inside the premises and shot him multiple times, causing immediate death. Witnesses reported at least eight gunshots, and the victim sustained multiple bullet wounds, including some to the head.
Family members confirmed the death when claiming the body at the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo). Officers from the Municipal Police, National Guard, and Guerrero's State Attorney General's Office (FGE) arrived promptly, secured the scene, and began investigative procedures. So far, the motives for the attack remain unknown, and authorities have launched an operation to apprehend the perpetrators.
This killing takes place amid insecurity in Guerrero, where public officials have frequently been targets of violence. The FGE continues to gather evidence to clarify the case.
