Katy Perry's headlining performance at Belgium's Werchter Boutique festival was canceled on June 27 due to severe weather warnings. Organizers shut down the event early after Pitbull's set to ensure safe exits for attendees. Perry expressed disappointment but emphasized safety priorities.
The one-day festival at Festivalpark Werchter ended after Pitbull performed. Organizers cited the threat of severe thunderstorms and a government-mandated cancellation for crowd safety.
Perry learned of the decision backstage during hair and makeup. She posted on Instagram that she had no choice and noted the safety of all 55,000 attendees came first.
She added that she had not performed at the festival in 17 years and had planned to wear the same outfit from her 2009 appearance. Werchter Boutique later confirmed a severe storm passed over the area after closure, with all visitors departing safely.
Perry's next scheduled show is at Cardiff Castle on June 30.
