The Kenya National Examinations Council has introduced an online system allowing former candidates to download digital copies of their KCSE and KCPE certificates. The platform covers exams from 1989 to 2025 and requires identity verification plus a fee. It aims to simplify access for those who have lost physical documents.
The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) rolled out the e-Certificate platform on 27 June 2026. Users register with an email address, complete a personal profile and verify their identity through the Integrated Population Registration System using national ID details.
After verification, applicants enter their examination index number and year, then pay a fee of KSh1,200 plus VAT and eCitizen charges. Successful payment allows immediate download of a PDF certificate that includes a blockchain verification hash and remains available for six months.
The system also lets candidates send verification reports directly to employers or universities. A separate portal supports organisations, including bulk checks of up to 1,000 certificates via CSV upload.
