Kuresoi North MP sought by police over clashes

Kuresoi North MP Alfred Mutai remains sought by police over weekend clashes between his supporters and those of Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika.

The clashes left five people with bullet wounds in Kuresoi North constituency. Police arrested more than 56 youths suspected of taking part in the clashes at Umoja Secondary School, Tulwet.

Mr Mutai has denied involvement in the clashes and said he is being targeted politically. He is a first-term MP after defeating former Deputy Speaker Moses Cheboi through UDA in 2022.

Ms Kihika and other politicians were holding a fundraising meeting in Nyota ward. Forty-four youths were released due to lack of evidence while 12 remain in custody and are expected to be taken to court on Monday.
