Mike Trout heads to injured list with hamstring strain

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout will miss time after straining his right hamstring. The three-time AL MVP was placed on the 10-day injured list following an injury sustained during Wednesday's game.

Trout hurt himself while running to first base in the eighth inning of an 8-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He had played in 74 of the Angels' first 75 games this season before the setback.

"From last night to today, it's a night and day difference, so that's positive for me," Trout said. "I'm not overly concerned about it, but I'm going to do everything I can in that training room and the weight room to get back."

The injury could affect Trout's chances of appearing in the All-Star Game on July 14 in Philadelphia. The 34-year-old is batting .234/.394/.472 with 17 home runs and an AL-leading 54 runs scored.

In related roster moves, the Angels called up infielder Christian Moore from Triple-A and activated catcher Tyler Heineman.
