Colombia's gas production dropped 12.89% year-over-year in May, according to ACIPET data. Ecopetrol prepares measures for the El Niño phenomenon.
The Colombian Association of Petroleum Engineers reported that 1,129 million cubic feet per day of gas were produced in May. This figure marks the worst first five months since 2013, with an average of 1,127.6 MPCD.
Imports covered 28.8% of national demand. Ecopetrol announced that regasification projects will contribute 360 GBTUD to face the El Niño phenomenon.
Bayron Triana Arias, Ecopetrol's vice president of Energies for the Transition, said the company acted in advance to ensure energy security. The company has 1,863 MW of self-generation.
