Hundreds of passengers on the cruise ship Norwegian Sun were disappointed when the vessel missed four of nine planned stops in the Baltic Sea due to engine problems.
The ship Norwegian Sun departed from Helsinki at the end of June for a nine-day voyage. Due to an unforeseen technical problem the vessel was forced to sail at reduced speed.
This led to cancellations of stops in Nynäshamn in Sweden, Klaipeda in Lithuania, Gdynia in Poland and Kiel in Germany. Passengers instead spent the days at sea.
NCL initially offered 1 000 kronor per cabin in compensation along with discounts. After protests the compensation was raised to 25 percent of the ticket price. Passengers such as Katie Kent Taylor and Leanne Sardiga described the offer as insulting and are considering legal action.
