Radio France and France Télévisions issued a joint message correcting inaccurate statements made by a journalist during an interview with Manuel Bompard. The comments concerned the stance of New York mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani on the October 7 events. La France insoumise had denounced these statements as factually false.
Radio France group published, on Tuesday November 11, 2025, a message correcting statements made by France Télévisions journalist Alix Bouilhaguet during the "Questions Politiques" program aired Sunday on France Inter and Franceinfo. The interview featured Manuel Bompard, coordinator of La France insoumise (LFI) and deputy from Bouches-du-Rhône.
Bouilhaguet had asked Bompard to comment on the fact that Zohran Mamdani, elected mayor of New York on November 4, "has not condemned October 7," stating: "when asked to condemn October 7, he often dodges, repeating that the problem is Israel's occupation." The leadership of Radio France and France Télévisions deny these claims, describing them as "factually false."
In their joint message posted on X and the program's website, the two groups clarify that Mamdani condemned the October 7 events as early as 2023, calling them "war crimes," and reiterated this on October 7, 2025, denouncing "horrible war crimes." They emphasize that he did not "dodge."
Following the live broadcast, LFI announced on Monday it would seize Arcom, the audiovisual regulator, stating in a public letter: "On several occasions during this interview, the journalist made factually false statements."
Reacting to the media's message, Manuel Bompard wrote on X: "France Inter and France Télévisions thus recognize that the questions asked were lies." He regrets, however, the lack of "any concrete decision in the face of this manifest disinformation."
This correction comes amid tensions over LFI's positions on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with questions raised by listeners.
