Sofia D’Angelo’s 'Time' tops Billboard fan-voted music poll

Sofia D’Angelo’s new single “Time” has won Billboard’s weekly fan poll for favorite new music release. The track received more than 69% of the votes, outpacing entries from Anne Hathaway and Jack White. The poll closed on Sunday after opening on Friday, April 3.

Pop singer-songwriter Sofia D’Angelo, a New York native and member of the group MICHELLE, released “Time” as a solo single this week. Fans voted it their top new release in Billboard’s poll, surpassing other contenders including Anne Hathaway’s “My Mouth Is Lonely for You” from her upcoming film Mother Mary, which garnered 16% of the vote, and Jack White’s “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs” with 4%. Arlo Parks and floweroflove also featured new music in the poll week. “Time” arrived with a music video filmed at a Bushwick bar, depicting a flash-forward to an older version of D’Angelo while capturing her youthful energy. Directed by Steph Rinzler, the video lists D’Angelo as executive producer, Anahita von Andrian-Werburg as producer, and Natalie Williams as associate producer. In the clip, D’Angelo quips, “Every seven years or so, even Grandma needs a good time.” The song includes lyrics such as “Just gotta work with what you got” and reflections on youth: “At the end of everything/ Will I remember 23?/ If I survive I’ll know/ If time was on my side.” Billboard published the poll results following votes from listeners.
