Pittsburgh Steelers analysts predict that second-round draft pick Germie Bernard will see limited action early in the 2026 season. The team is expected to rely more on tight ends instead of adding a third wide receiver initially.
Ray Fittipaldo stated on 93.7 The Fan that Bernard will likely be introduced gradually. He said the rookie would appear more in October, November, and December than in September.
Fittipaldo noted the Steelers' preference for running the ball with personnel groups featuring multiple tight ends. This approach would increase playing time for Pat Freiermuth and Darnell Washington.
Bernard, selected in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, has received positive reports for his work ethic and complete skill set. The team recently signed Washington to a contract extension.
