Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav on Friday targeted former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the BJP over dynastic politics following Bihar's cabinet expansion. He also condemned police action against teaching job aspirants protesting in Patna. The remarks came a day after the new ministers took oath.
Tejashwi Yadav addressed the press in Patna on May 8, 2026. He said Nitish Kumar and the BJP have no moral right to speak on dynastic politics. He noted that three ministers in the new cabinet are sons of former chief ministers and that 17 ministers come from political families.
Yadav criticised the appointment of Nishant Kumar and Deepak Prakash as ministers without electoral mandates. He also pointed out the lack of regional and caste balance in the cabinet and the appointment of only one Muslim minister.
On the same day police used lathis to disperse teaching job aspirants protesting near Gandhi Maidan. The protesters were demanding the release of the Teacher Recruitment Examination notification from the Bihar Public Service Commission. Several students were injured and opposition leaders accused the government of suppressing youth demands for jobs.
