Vicky Foods acquires Panrico to strengthen bread market in Spain and Portugal

Valencian food company Vicky Foods, formerly Dulcesol, has acquired the Panrico brand from Adam Foods. The deal includes the industrial plant in Gulpilhares, Portugal, to boost its leadership in sliced bread.

Vicky Foods has reached an agreement with Adam Foods to acquire the Panrico brand, with the amount undisclosed. The deal covers the Spanish and Portuguese markets and includes the key industrial asset: the Gulpilhares plant in Portugal, spanning over 50,000 square meters, with three sliced bread production lines and an annual capacity of 21,000 tons. Panrico generated 23.8 million euros in revenue last year in both countries. For Vicky Foods, bread has been its top sales volume line since 2022, ahead of pastries. This acquisition bolsters its position in sliced bread, where Panrico enjoys strong consumer recognition. Rafael Juan, CEO of Vicky Foods, states: “The incorporation of Panrico reinforces our identity as a bakery-origin company. We bet on growing the bread category, strengthening our brands, and advancing our international expansion with a solid, long-term industrial vision.” José Manuel Faria, general director of Adam Foods' cookie division, notes that the operation aims to “guarantee the long-term continuity of Panrico's industrial activity and employment.” Vicky Foods, present in over 50 countries with plants in Spain, France, and Algeria, adds Panrico to brands like Dulcesol, Be Plus, and Hermanos Juan.
