Walt Disney Studios hires Tricia Wood as head of casting

Walt Disney Studios has appointed Tricia Wood as executive vice president and head of casting. Wood, who previously held the same role at Paramount Pictures since 2020, will report to David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios. She will guide casting strategies across Disney's live-action, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures labels.

Tricia Wood has joined Walt Disney Studios in the newly created position of executive vice president and head of casting, effective immediately. In this role, she will collaborate closely with studio leadership and filmmakers to shape casting decisions for projects under the Disney live-action, 20th Century Studios, and Searchlight Pictures banners.

Before her time at Paramount Pictures, where she oversaw casting for the studio's feature films starting in 2020, Wood established a notable independent casting career. She worked alongside longtime collaborator Deborah Aquila for over two decades, contributing to several successful films. Among her credits are Twilight, the Oscar-winning La La Land, Wonder, Underworld, The Age of Adaline, The Lost City, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, IF, and the Academy Award-winning CODA.

Wood's casting work has been instrumental in launching franchises, discovering emerging talent, and building ensembles that mix established stars with new voices. She is a multiple-time winner of the Casting Society of America Artios Award, recognized for her contributions to CODA, La La Land, My Week With Marilyn, and RED.

This hire follows Wood's executive experience at Paramount and builds on her independent achievements, positioning her to influence Disney's upcoming slate of films.
