Indonesian senior actor Epy Kusnandar passed away on December 3, 2025, at age 61 due to a blockage in the brainstem. He was found unconscious at home in the morning and pronounced dead at the National Brain Center Hospital at 14:24 WIB. His family recalls his spirited life despite recent health decline.
Epy Kusnandar, known as Kang Mus in the series 'Preman Pensiun', showed signs of health decline since the previous month. His son, Damar Rizal Marzuki, said his father often complained of headaches and fatigue from intense activities, even fainting several times but refusing hospital visits. "Papap itu kalau sudah baikan, langsung bercanda lagi. Enggak mau membebani siapapun," Damar stated.
The night before, on December 2, 2025, Epy insisted on visiting his eatery despite weakness. He gathered employees and lectured on evaluating the three-month-old culinary business. "Nah katanya nggak tahu kenapa, di malam itu pengen banget ke warung, terus tiba-tiba ngumpulin anak-anak warung, ceramah di situ," Damar recounted. The meeting lasted late, and Epy returned home around 1:00 AM.
On the morning of December 3, wife Karina Ranau found him unconscious under the bed, vomiting, and fallen from sleep. The family rushed him to the National Brain Center Hospital (RSPON) Cawang at 5:30 AM. Blood pressure surged to 200, critically unresponsive, only on oxygen. His brother, Deniar Hendarsah, explained: "Batang otak itu pusat kontrol kehidupan, gerak, napas. Yang tersumbat cuma satu, tapi itu krusial."
Medical efforts failed; surgery was impossible. Epy died at 14:24 WIB. He had a history of stage-four brain tumor in 2011, recovered via alternative treatment. Previously, Epy expressed a wish to be buried in Garut near his mother, but the body was interred at TPU Jeruk Purut, Jakarta, on December 4 at 8:30 AM. Karina apologized: "Mohon dimaafkan jika suami saya yang telah saya dampingi selama 22 tahun ada salah kata, salah ucap, salah sikap." 'Preman Pensiun' colleagues like Aris Nugraha attended, thanking his major role in Epy's career.
