Sheri Mitchell-Clutts, 65, faces murder charges after fatally shooting her husband at their home in Russellville, Alabama.

The incident took place on Sunday evening at the couple's residence on Duncan Creek Road. Timothy Clutts, 69, was sitting alone in a recliner when he was shot in the chest. Deputies found him dead upon arrival after Mitchell-Clutts called 911 and admitted to firing the shot moments earlier, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office. The handgun was recovered from atop a cooler inside the house.
