Bayern defeats Dortmund 2-1 and leads the Bundesliga

FC Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1, extending their lead in the Bundesliga. Despite a controversial opening goal and fan protests against Jérôme Boateng, the hosts showed strength. Coach Niko Kovač sharply criticized the referee.

In the top match of Bundesliga matchday 7 on Saturday evening, FC Bayern Munich defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1, securing their seventh straight win. The hosts dominated with more possession and chances, though Joshua Kimmich's error in the 65th minute gave Karim Adeyemi a chance to equalize – the BVB forward slipped and shot over the bar.

The opener came in the 22nd minute: Harry Kane headed in from a Kimmich corner for 1-0, after lightly pushing Serhou Guirassy. The VAR saw no foul. Michael Olise forced the 2-0 in the 79th minute following Jobe Bellingham's mistake, started by Kane's long pass. Julian Brandt scored in the 84th for 2-1, but Bayern's defense held. Dortmund sits fourth with 14 points; Bayern leads by five over RB Leipzig with a 27-4 goal difference.

BVB coach Niko Kovač lashed out at referee Bastian Dankert post-match: "He whistled everything, so petty. The refereeing was really poor today." He called Kane's goal a "clear wrong decision," given Dankert's nitpicking elsewhere. Dankert defended: "That's standard in the Bundesliga, no push." Kane said: "If we call that a foul, I don't know where it'll lead."

At halftime, Südkurve fans protested with banners against a potential coaching internship for Jérôme Boateng at Bayern. The ex-defender was warned for assault but didn't fully admit the acts. Serge Gnabry suffered an adductor injury. Bayern faces Gladbach, Cologne, Leverkusen, and Union Berlin next.
