Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia met President Bola Tinubu in Abuja and pledged increased electoral backing for the All Progressives Congress in 2027 while noting security gains in the state.
Governor Alia spoke to reporters after the closed-door session at the Presidential Villa. He said recent agitations among party members following primaries would ease and described the APC as remaining united in Benue.
Alia stated that the state would double its votes for the president in the next election. He also updated Tinubu on improved security conditions and the return of internally displaced persons ahead of the farming season.
The governor thanked the president for attending the Benue at 50 event where a fruit concentrate factory was commissioned. First Lady Oluremi Tinubu opened ten urban roads during her visit while two additional industrial projects await commissioning.
