Bev Cox hosts first fashion show in Summerfield

Bev Cox, a resident of On Top of the World, showcased her unique clothing creations at her debut fashion show on March 3. The event took place at the Broad Stripes Golf & Social Club in Summerfield, featuring models from the community. Cox expressed gratitude to participants and attendees for their support.

Bev Cox developed an early interest in sewing, watching her mother at age seven and later taking a class in junior high school. Today, she repurposes gently used clothes and alters garments for others. As quoted, “I repurpose gently used clothes, and I also alter clothes for people,” Bev said.

Residents of On Top of the World (OTOW) have come to appreciate Cox's talent for transforming ordinary clothing into distinctive pieces. Her first fashion show occurred on March 3 at the Broad Stripes Golf & Social Club in Summerfield. Models, all OTOW residents, displayed various outfits on a makeshift runway.

Among the creations were a jacket that doubles as a dress worn by model Paul, a dress-jacket piece on Wanda, and a beige dress with gold bows modeled by Teresa. Other highlights included Patty in “fancy pants,” Jan in denim and lace for the United States' 250th birthday celebration, Marge in an embossed denim jacket, Paula in a “puppy top,” and Wanda in a black skirt with boots and white jacket. Teresa also wore a red, white, and blue bohemian-style outfit.

Pamela M served as the master of ceremonies, describing each ensemble. Teresa D designed the event flyer. Cox thanked her sister Connie, who traveled three hours from Lake Placid, and her sister Patty, who modeled. Door prizes went to Cathy and Nancy.

Cox plans additional shows at OTOW, with details available on her Facebook event page. The event was well-received, highlighting her one-of-a-kind designs.
