Bombing at Peruvian nightclub injures 33 people including minors

A bombing at the Dali nightclub in Trujillo, Peru, has left 33 people injured, including three minors, authorities reported. The explosion occurred in the pre-dawn hours in a region troubled by violence. No group has claimed responsibility, and the motive remains unclear.

The incident took place early Saturday at the Dali nightclub in the province of Trujillo, along Peru's northern coast, according to a statement from the local Emergency Operations Center. This area has faced ongoing issues with violence and crime, exacerbated by extortion and illegal mining in the La Libertad region. The Andean part of La Libertad hosts Peru's largest gold-producing area, and official figures indicate 286 explosions occurred there in 2025, with 136 in Trujillo alone. The rise in organized criminal groups has contributed to increased extortion-related crimes.

Gerardo Florián Gómez, executive director of the Trujillo Health Network, stated that at least five of the injured are in serious condition. He noted that some victims have suffered amputations and shrapnel wounds and are currently undergoing surgery. Among the wounded are three minors: a 16-year-old and two 17-year-olds.

This bombing follows another explosion in the same city less than a month prior, which damaged 25 homes but resulted in no injuries or deaths. Authorities have not identified any suspects or motives in the nightclub attack.
