Bowling for Soup and able machines cover Elastica's 'Connection'

Bowling For Soup has collaborated with electropop duo able machines on a cover of Elastica's Britpop classic 'Connection', featuring a sci-fi themed video. The project stems from a long-standing friendship with producer Linus Of Hollywood. Frontman Jaret Reddick shared his enthusiasm for the track, which the band once played frequently during travels.

Bowling For Soup, known for their pop-punk sound, joined forces with able machines to reinterpret Elastica's 1995 hit 'Connection'. Released on January 9, 2026, the cover shifts the original guitar-driven energy toward a more electronic style, reflecting able machines' electropop influences.

The idea originated from Jaret Reddick's admiration for the song. As he explained, “I have always loved this song! We used to play it in the van non stop!” Reddick recounted how inspiration struck while listening to a new able machines track: “One day I was listening to a new able machines song and just thought…My best friend, Bowling For Soup’s producer, Linus of Hollywood is in an Electronic band! We should do this ‘Connection’ together! Even the song title is perfect for this collab! Luckily, Linus and Tay liked the idea, and ran with it! I am so stoked for how this turned out…The video is next level!”

The accompanying video pays homage to retro science fiction, adding a visual layer to the collaboration. This project builds on the bands' prior work together, facilitated by their connection to Linus Of Hollywood.

Recently, Bowling For Soup headlined London's Wembley Arena. Looking ahead, they will co-headline the Bowl My Bones Tour with Frank Turner this summer. The tour kicks off on June 25 at Dreamland in Margate and includes stops in Southampton, Lincoln, Glasgow, Halifax, Scarborough, Llangollen, Cardiff, and concludes on July 5 at the Eden Sessions in St Austell, Cornwall.

In related news, the band recently updated their Sonic Unleashed theme 'Endless Possibility' with contributions from Wheatus and Punk Rock Factory.
