Brendan Shinnimin to leave Luleå for Linköping next season

Brendan Shinnimin is leaving Luleå Hockey after five seasons to join Linköping in the SHL. The 35-year-old Canadian forward had expressed a desire to stay with Luleå following their semifinal exit.

Luleå Hockey announced the departure on Instagram, thanking Shinnimin for his contributions over five years. He helped the team reach two SM finals, win one Swedish championship and appear in two CHL finals. Shinnimin began the 2025/26 season in Slovakia before returning to Luleå, where he became a fan favorite despite some diving controversies.

Expert Staffan Kronwall predicts the 24-year-old will depart Swedish hockey for the NHL after the season. His agent previously confirmed interest from North America's top league.
