Sports Minister Natalia Duco requested the resignation of Lorena Castillo, acting director of the IND, one day after authorizing the use of Estadio Nacional for three BTS concerts.
Castillo's departure occurred on July 22, 2026, after the Ministry of Sport confirmed acceptance of DG Medios' technical proposal for the concerts.
The agency detailed that the 360° stage and use of cranes from the athletic track would reduce impact on the grass, along with a protective cover.
Castillo had started her career at the IND during Sebastián Piñera's second government. Juan Pablo Salgado, head of the Physical Activity and Sports Division, assumed the acting role in her place.
The concerts were announced in March and tickets sold out in April, with around 200,000 tickets sold. BTS fans protested at La Moneda after weeks of uncertainty.
