Cabify to provide access to 40,000 taxis on car-free day

During Bogotá's Car-Free Day and No-Moto Day, Cabify announced its platform will provide access to over 40,000 taxis with fully compensated carbon footprints. The company will allocate 1% of app-based trips to a reforestation project in the Colombian Amazon.

Bogotá's annual Car-Free Day and No-Moto Day, aimed at promoting sustainable mobility, will feature support from Cabify this year. The mobility platform disclosed that it will enable taxi rides, ensuring all trips have their carbon footprint fully compensated. The company aims to exceed the 107.9 tons of CO₂ compensated in the 2025 edition, with over 40,000 registered taxis available to meet demand for essential trips.

Cabify will also launch its '1% of Cabify' program, directing 1% of the day's app trips toward environmental causes. On this occasion, the funds will support a reforestation project in the Colombian Amazon through a partnership with Saving the Amazon, in place since 2022. The effort will aid 218 families from the Puinave ethnic group in the Cayulamo Indigenous Reservation in Guainía department, while helping protect 45,840 hectares of Amazonian forest. To date, this alliance has enabled the planting of more than 2,000 native trees in the area.

"Car-Free Day is a valuable opportunity to reflect on how we move around the city. We invite people to prioritize walking or biking for trips, and for those where that's not possible, we offer a responsible alternative," stated Daniel Schlesinger, Country Manager of Cabify Colombia.

Schlesinger added: "With over 40,000 taxis and 100% compensated carbon footprints, we not only facilitate mobility on this day but also give greater purpose to each trip by activating our 1% initiative to support Amazon protection".

This move underscores Cabify's commitment to sustainability, providing responsible transport options during a key day for environmental awareness in Colombia's capital.
