Carpenter Brut announces 'Leather Temple' album for February release

French synthwave artist Carpenter Brut has revealed details of his upcoming album 'Leather Temple', set for release on February 27. This project marks the final chapter in his Leather trilogy, building on a dystopian narrative introduced in prior works. The announcement includes a teaser video and details of supporting tours.

Carpenter Brut, the synthwave producer known for his retro-futuristic sound, has confirmed the release of 'Leather Temple' on February 27 through No Quarter Prod/Virgin Records. This album serves as the third and concluding installment in his Leather trilogy, succeeding 'Leather Terror' from 2022 and 'Leather Teeth' from 2018.

The album's concept advances a post-apocalyptic storyline into 2077, eighty-five years after a nuclear devastation. Humanity endures under the dominance of transhuman Overlords in neon-lit cities, while survivors scrape by in the ruins. Central to this world is Midwichpolis, ruled by the tyrannical Iron Tusk, who is addicted to the synthetic drug Pink Base and fixated on eternal life. He hosts weekly 'Speed or Perish' races, broadcast live, where participants vie for an elusive freedom.

Opposing the regime from the Midwichslums is the Horde, a rebel scavenger group led by Lita Connor. They awaken Bret Halford, alias Leather Teeth, from a forgotten cold room and upgrade him with advanced technology, turning him into a cyborg ally for their fight for justice.

Last month, Carpenter Brut previewed the title track with a video directed by Dehn Sora, which sets the scene in Midwichpolis. The full tracklist includes: 1. Ouverture (Deus Ex Machina), 2. Major Threat, 3. Leather Temple, 4. She Rules The Ruins, 5. Start Your Engines, 6. Neon Requiem, 7. Iron Sanctuary, 8. The Misfits The Rebels, 9. Speed or Perish, 10. The End Complete.

To promote the release, Carpenter Brut has scheduled European shows in March, featuring a gig at London's O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire. A co-headlining North American tour with HEALTH follows in the spring, and he will perform at Bloodstock festival in Derbyshire in August. Tickets are available now.
