Count charged with 45 assaults on his wife

A count and estate owner faces charges of gross violation of a woman's integrity and gross assault for 45 instances of abusing his wife between 2021 and 2025. The wife documented the violence for years using photos, videos, and notes. The man denies all allegations and has been detained since December.

A man, identified as a count and estate owner, is charged in Kristianstad District Court with gross violation of a woman's integrity from April 4, 2021, to December 27, 2025. The charge includes 43 assaults, three molestations, and two unlawful threats, according to the prosecutor. The acts aimed to seriously damage the woman's self-esteem, with her described as vulnerable for various reasons.

He also faces charges for two counts of gross assault in 2023. On one occasion, he struck his wife on the finger and foot with a walking stick, causing a fracture and pain. On another, he forcefully smashed a glass into her face.

Police were called to the family's farm on December 27, 2025, where the couple lives with their two adult children. In interrogation, the wife stated the man pressed her down, choked her neck, and threw her outside. She called police from her car, fearing he could kill her. He reportedly said he felt no shame for the violence and blamed her provocation.

Another incident on December 15 involved pushing her off a chair, hitting her with a napkin, and kicking her, with her knee hitting the stone floor.

The wife reports the abuse began in the 1990s and worsened, leading to three medical visits, including for split lips. She was economically dependent, and he threatened suicide if reported. Children and friends witnessed the violence, which became normalized in the family.

She systematically documented it with phone notes, photos, videos, and audio. An example from November 2022 reads: "Tonight Y has again laid hands on me."

The man denies all charges, calling them lies and slander, attributing her police call to malice. The penalty for gross violation of a woman's integrity ranges from one to six years in prison. He has been detained since December 30.
