Daniel Mas announces new pro-employment measures package

Economy and Mining biminister Daniel Mas anticipated the launch of a new package of measures to generate employment in the short term.

In an interview published on July 19, Mas detailed that the plan will include actions in the forestry and mining sectors, plus housing and public works programs. The official noted that these initiatives complement the Reconstruction project and aim to quickly activate job creation.

The biminister stated that the government has spoken with various productive sectors to identify regulatory adjustments that could generate between 20,000 and 150,000 additional jobs. Proposals include modifications to DL 701 for the forestry sector and greater labor adaptability.

Mas also referred to the situation at Codelco, assuring there will be no privatization and that the government will soon announce a capitalization plan to increase production to 1.3 million tons. The official expressed optimism about economic recovery, noting that the direction of activity has already changed.
