The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has arrested a prime suspect in the murder of Technical University of Kenya lecturer Edgar Mokua after forensic evidence linked a vehicle to the disposal of his body.
Homicide detectives arrested the suspect at Ruiru Blue Estate on July 22, 2026. A grey Toyota Ractis believed to have been used in the crime was recovered at Murera Farm in Juja.
Mokua was last seen leaving his home in Princes Park, Lavington, at about 4:20pm on July 6, 2026. His body was later found near Woodcreek Academy and taken to the City Mortuary.
The DCI stated that forensic and technical analysis of the vehicle provided the breakthrough in the case. The suspect is in custody ahead of arraignment while investigations continue to determine the motive and possible involvement of others.
Mokua had spent time at entertainment spots in Lavington with two men and a woman before being left behind at a venue.
