A preliminary investigation into vandalism and molestation has been initiated, but the content of the liquid remains unclear. No one has been arrested and no one appears to have been harmed.
The incident occurred around 6 a.m. on Saturday morning, November 8, 2025, when police received an alert about a drone flying over the Russian embassy's trade representation buildings on Lidingö, a suburb of Stockholm. According to police, a liquid mixture was observed on the building's facade, but its exact composition is under investigation. Aftonbladet, which was first to report the event, stated it involved red paint mixed with something, but police spokesperson Susanna Rinaldo confirmed only that it was 'some type of liquid mixture' and that analysis is ongoing.
'Right now, I have information that there are damages to the facade', Rinaldo told TT. She added: 'What exactly the content of that liquid mixture is, remains to be seen. It's being examined as part of the investigation.' Police are also investigating whether a drone was indeed involved and have conducted several investigative measures regarding the sightings.
The preliminary investigation is classified as vandalism and molestation, with potential for additional charges. 'It is likely that more criminal classifications may be added', according to Rinaldo. There are no reports of anyone getting the liquid on them or being arrested. The Russian embassy's main building is on Kungsholmen in central Stockholm, while the Lidingö structure is used for trade representation. The incident has not been reported to cause any personal injuries.
