Duran Duran has unveiled its first new music of 2026, the single 'Free to Love,' featuring longtime collaborator Nile Rodgers. The disco-fueled track arrived alongside a music video directed by Jonas Åkerlund and starring British broadcaster Clara Amfo. Keyboardist Nick Rhodes described it as an anthem for peace and freedom.
Duran Duran shared 'Free to Love' on Thursday, marking the band's initial release this year. The song highlights the group's enduring partnership with Nile Rodgers, which began with a remix of their 1984 hit 'The Reflex'—their first number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Rhodes praised the collaboration in a statement, saying, 'Every time we plug in and play with Nile, the electricity he generates could light up a whole city. We share a common belief that music is a force for good and something that brings positive energy into the world.' He positioned the track as a 'call to all the people out there who want peace, hope, and understanding to prevail' and an 'anthem for freedom.' Rodger echoed this sentiment, stating, 'My love for Duran Duran and what our music together has always been about is the love we share for our song’s deepest meanings.' He added, 'Whatever chaos is going on outside, inside the studio we’re free to love our peace.' The music video depicts the band performing amid a glittering disco party. Duran Duran, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, recently announced they will headline London's BST Hyde Park on July 5 with special guests Scissor Sisters—their second time topping the bill there after 2022. They have further shows lined up, including California's Beachlife Festival, a multi-night Las Vegas residency at the Fontainebleau, and a month-long European tour.
