Palestinian designer Rasheed Abueideh unveiled the initial gameplay trailer for Dreams on a Pillow last week. The upcoming stealth title follows a mother during the 1948 Nakba and contrasts it with flashbacks to a vibrant pre-1948 Palestine.
Abueideh, who lives in Nablus in the West Bank, serves as creative director on the project. He developed the game to present a historical view of Palestinian life before the events of 1948, when an estimated 750,000 Palestinians were displaced. The narrative centers on a woman named Omm who flees her village after an attack, mistaking a pillow for her child in the chaos.
