FootJoy launches Legends Series for PGA Championship

FootJoy has introduced its new Legends Series, featuring the Packard and Marquis 1776 models inspired by Philadelphia's history. The limited releases pay homage to the host city of next week's PGA Championship. The brand is shifting away from external collaborations toward internal storytelling.

FootJoy announced the Premiere Series Packard and Marquis 1776 as part of its Legends Series, which celebrates major championship moments through designs tied to host cities. The shoes draw from Philadelphia's rich heritage, where the PGA Championship is scheduled next week. Subtle nods include Liberty Bell emblems on the tongues, red, white, and blue accents, and grayscale leather uppers reflecting the city's grey stone and granite architecture, all while maintaining performance for elite play. The pairs maintain high performance integrity for professional golfers. The release confirms FootJoy's move past its collaboration era. Recent examples include the Aimé Leon Dore x FootJoy Marquis, praised by some as the best-looking golf shoe, while The PLAYERS Championship and The Masters lacked traditional collab drops. Instead, The Masters offered a limited pair for members only. The Packard and Marquis 1776 are set to drop on Tuesday, May 12. Additional Legends Series releases are planned for June and July ahead of the U.S. Open and Open Championship.
