Guy described the signal on Edelman’s Games with Names podcast. He said Roethlisberger’s ankle position revealed whether the play was a pass or run. Guy noted that the information was widely known among opponents.
The former Patriots and Ravens player faced the Steelers ten times, including once in the playoffs. In a December 2015 game, Guy focused solely on the quarterback’s footwork and recorded two tackles in a 20-17 Ravens victory. Roethlisberger threw no touchdowns, two interceptions, and was sacked three times that day.
Guy added that Roethlisberger also grabbed his face mask to signal hot throws, often to Antonio Brown. His teams finished 8-2 against Pittsburgh across those contests, with Guy accumulating 31 tackles, four quarterback hits, and one sack.
