Jeanne Herry's drama Garance earned a 12-minute standing ovation at its Cannes Film Festival premiere on May 17. The enthusiastic response highlighted strong audience approval for the film starring Adèle Exarchopoulos.
The competition entry follows Exarchopoulos as a Parisian actress dealing with professional instability, alcoholism, family issues and relationships. Co-stars Sara Giraudeau and Mathilde Roehrich joined Exarchopoulos for hugs as applause continued after the screening. Léa Seydoux was also present in the audience showing support for the project.
