Gorillaz unveil two new tracks from album The Mountain

Gorillaz have released two new songs, "The Hardest Thing" and "Orange County," ahead of their upcoming album The Mountain, scheduled for February 27. The tracks highlight collaborations with artists like Tony Allen and Bizarrap. The band will preview the full album at special shows in Los Angeles.

Gorillaz announced two fresh tracks from their forthcoming album The Mountain on January 15, 2026. The songs, "The Hardest Thing" and "Orange County," offer distinct moods that reflect the band's evolving sound.

"The Hardest Thing" pays tribute to the late drummer and composer Tony Allen. Described as a sparse piece exploring themes of grief and hope, it features a floating voice amid ethereal production, setting a contemplative tone.

Serving as a companion, "Orange County" brings a brighter energy with its earnest melody. It blends Gorillaz's characteristic vibrancy with a laid-back atmosphere, enhanced by input from producers Bizarrap, singer Kara Jackson, and musician Anoushka Shanksar.

This release follows a series of singles from The Mountain. In September 2025, the band dropped the lead track "The Happy Dictator." Subsequent singles included "The Manifesto," the IDLES-collaborative "The God of Lying," and "Damascus," which features Yasiin Bey and Omar Souleyman.

The album arrives on February 27, aligning with the launch of a four-week House of Kong exhibition in Los Angeles. To mark the occasion, Gorillaz plan exclusive two-night performances at the Hollywood Palladium on February 22 and 23, where they will play The Mountain in full. Tickets for these events are available through official channels.

The Mountain has been highlighted among the most anticipated releases of 2026, underscoring Gorillaz's continued influence in alternative music.
