On Wednesday night, Harold Joanny Torres Molina was chatting with his brother on the front steps of his home in Simón Bolívar neighborhood, Comuna Uno of Pitalito, when two assailants on a motorcycle surprised him. Without warning, they fired multiple shots, striking him in the thorax and skull.
Relatives rushed him by taxi to Hospital Departamental San Antonio de Pitalito, where he arrived in critical condition. Doctors performed complex surgery and transferred him to the Intensive Care Unit with a reserved prognosis.
Despite medical efforts, Torres Molina died around 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, as reported by the hospital. His death is the 10th homicide in March 2026 in Pitalito, bringing the year's total to 22.
Authorities have not determined the motives behind the attack and have urged the community to provide information to apprehend those responsible. The situation raises concerns among residents and keeps law enforcement on high alert in this Valle del Laboyos area.
