History-sheeter shot in leg and arrested near Vandalur

Police shot a history-sheeter in the leg during a raid on Sunday and seized more than 20 kg of ganja near Vandalur.

A special team from the Otteri police raided a hideout in Otteri after receiving a tip-off about ganja smuggling. Chella alias Selvakumar, a history-sheeter with three murder cases and 10 other criminal cases, and his accomplice Kanakaraj attempted to flee and assaulted a police officer with a knife.

Otteri police Sub Inspector Satheesh shot Selvakumar in the leg in response. A policeman was injured in the assault. Officers seized more than 20 kg of ganja from the scene.

Selvakumar was admitted to Tambaram Government Hospital for treatment. His accomplice Kanakaraj was arrested. The incident occurred under the Tambaram police Commissionerate.
