Home Minister Tito Karnavian expressed concern over the KPK's arrest operation targeting West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini on Monday.
The Corruption Eradication Commission arrested West Lombok Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini along with 18 others in a sting operation on Monday morning, July 20, 2026. It was the 17th such operation carried out by the KPK this year.
The KPK seized hundreds of millions of rupiah in cash and documents linked to alleged project receipts in West Lombok Regency. Regent Lalu Ahmad Zaini arrived at the KPK's Red and White Building around 21:59 WIB for further examination.
Home Minister Tito Karnavian said the government had provided briefings and a transparent financial system to regional heads. He hoped regional heads would introspect to avoid corruption crimes.
The KPK has 1x24 hours to determine the legal status of the suspects under the Criminal Procedure Code. KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the operation.
