Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has opened up about her twin daughters' spinal muscular atrophy diagnosis in a new documentary trailer. The girls, born last year, both have SMA Type 1.
Jesy gave birth to Ocean and Story with ex-fiance Zion Foster. Doctors confirmed both have the rare genetic condition that causes progressive muscle weakness.
In the trailer for Jesy Nelson: Life Changing she breaks down saying the genetic testing came back positive. "I can't believe this is happening," she adds. "I feel like I'm going to feel heartbroken for the rest of my life."
Jesy gained over 150000 signatures on a petition and headed to Parliament in London last month. She expressed disappointment that NHS newborn screening for SMA will not roll out nationwide.
The documentary streams from July 17 on Prime Video UK. Jesy hopes it sparks real change for future babies.
