Jojo left bummed as chess closes before rehearsals

Singer Jojo expressed disappointment after the Broadway musical Chess announced its early closure just hours before her first rehearsal.

The 35-year-old, whose real name is Joanna Levesque, had been tapped in March to replace Lea Michele as Florence Vassy starting June 23. Chess instead set its final Broadway performance for June 21 at the Imperial Theatre after more than 250 shows. Jojo posted that she was supposed to start rehearsals the same day the news dropped, adding she was so bummed and sending love to the company.
