Julian Lage returns to Bob Dylan's tour after five-show absence

Guitarist Julian Lage rejoined Bob Dylan's Never Ending Tour on July 6 after missing five performances. The return came at the Mystic Lake Amphitheater in Shakopee, Minnesota, where Lage shared guitar duties with Joel Paterson.

Lage had last performed with the band on June 26 in Albuquerque before traveling to New York City. Bob Britt, who had been sharing duties, left the group shortly afterward with a public social media message.

Joel Paterson, a Chicago-based guitarist, stepped in starting June 29 in Austin and handled the next four shows alone with bassist Tony Garnier and drummer Anton Fig. The July 6 concert marked the first time Paterson divided guitar parts with another player.

Dylan's set list has stayed mostly steady in recent weeks, though he has dropped All Along the Watchtower and often closes with I Shall Be Released. Lage is scheduled for European dates on July 11 and 12 that overlap with Dylan's U.S. tour, which continues through August 1.
