Man sentenced to 15 years for plotting Taylor Swift Vienna concert attack

An Austrian man identified as Beran A. was sentenced to 15 years in prison on May 28 for his role in a foiled terror plot targeting Taylor Swift’s 2024 Eras Tour shows in Vienna.

The 21-year-old pleaded guilty in April to conspiring to carry out an attack but not guilty to other charges. Prosecutors said he planned to target fans outside Ernst Happel Stadium using knives and bombs, where up to 30,000 people could have gathered ahead of shows expected to draw 65,000 attendees each night. He had also been accused of collaborating with others on additional plots in the Middle East and seeking illegal weapons including a machine gun and hand grenade after following ISIS instructions on bomb-making, according to reports from The Associated Press and Al Jazeera.
