Megadeth will unveil the music video for their new single 'Let There Be Shred' on Friday, December 19, at 11 a.m. EST. The track comes from the band's upcoming self-titled album, set for release on January 23, 2026. This marks another step in the promotion of what the group has described as their final studio album.
The legendary thrash metal band Megadeth continues to build anticipation for their swan-song project with the impending debut of the 'Let There Be Shred' video. Frontman Dave Mustaine and his bandmates—guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, bassist James LoMenzo, and drummer Dirk Verbeuren—have positioned this self-titled effort as a capstone to over four decades of influence in heavy music. The album, released via Mustaine's Tradecraft imprint in partnership with Frontiers Label Group's BLKIIBLK label, features 10 tracks plus a bonus reimagining of 'Ride The Lightning,' originally co-written by Mustaine with Metallica's James Hetfield, Cliff Burton, and Lars Ulrich.
Preceding singles include 'Tipping Point,' released in early October with a video directed by Leonardo Liberti depicting themes of perseverance amid torment, and the recently dropped 'I Don’t Care,' helmed by director Keith J. Leman. Mustaine commented on the latter: “How many times have you wanted to say this to someone? I know you want to! Deep down inside, if we had the balls, we would tell more people, ‘I don’t care’ more often.” He highlighted the song's guitar work, noting a riff that had lingered since their previous album and praising the interplay with Mäntysaari.
The full tracklist encompasses 'Tipping Point,' 'I Don’t Care,' 'Hey, God?!,' 'Let There Be Shred,' 'Puppet Parade,' 'Another Bad Day,' 'Made To Kill,' 'Obey The Call,' 'I Am War,' 'The Last Note,' and the bonus track. Earlier this year, Mustaine announced via his alter ego Vic Rattlehead that this would be Megadeth's final studio album, following sales of over 50 million records worldwide and a Grammy win with 12 nominations. Fans can also look forward to the cinematic event 'Megadeth: Behind The Mask' on January 22, 2026, screening in more than 1,000 cinemas across over 35 countries, offering a premiere listen to the album alongside Mustaine's reflections. An immersive fan event in La Vergne, Tennessee, on January 17, 2026, will provide early access, acoustic performances, and interactions with the band.
