Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker delisted from digital stores

Konami has removed Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker from the PS3 digital store, while Peace Walker was also delisted from the Xbox Store, shortly after announcing the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2. The collection, revealed at Sony's State of Play earlier this year, will include these titles along with Metal Gear Ghost Babel for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Owned copies of the games remain playable on their respective platforms.

The delistings were first noticed by users on the PS3 Reddit community, where players reported seeing Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker listed on the PS3 store but unable to purchase them. This occurred shortly after the reveal of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 during Sony's State of Play event earlier in 2026. Separately, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was delisted from the Xbox Store just days after the announcement.

The upcoming collection aims to bring these games to modern platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. It includes Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, and Metal Gear Ghost Babel. Metal Gear Solid 4 was previously exclusive to the PS3 and had not been ported elsewhere. Konami has stated that many PS3-specific features and quirks from Metal Gear Solid 4 will be replicated in the collection, though the multiplayer component, Metal Gear Online, will not be included due to its age and the challenges of maintaining it.

Konami developers previously noted that remaking Metal Gear Solid 4: Sons of the Patriots, similar to the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake, would be "pretty hard." The Master Collection Vol. 2 offers a port rather than a full remake. Players who already own the games digitally or physically can continue to play them on PS3 without issue.

These developments follow Konami's recent efforts to revive the Metal Gear Solid series through collections and remakes.
