Mitsubishi starts exporting Destinator SUV from Indonesia to ASEAN

PT Mitsubishi Motors Krama Yudha Sales Indonesia (MMKSI) has begun exporting the Destinator SUV to the ASEAN market from its Indonesian production base. The model targets the mid-segment with an annual export goal of 12,000 units. This move underscores Indonesia's role as Mitsubishi's regional manufacturing hub.

PT MMKSI announced the start of exporting the Destinator SUV in Completely Built-Up (CBU) form from its Indonesian factory, primarily to ASEAN countries such as the Philippines and Vietnam. The announcement was made by MMKSI's Director of Sales and Marketing, Irwan Kuncoro, at an event in ICE BSD, Tangerang.

The Destinator is positioned as a mid-range option between the Xpander and Pajero Sport models, appealing to consumers looking to upgrade from the Xpander without moving to a premium SUV. "Destinator becomes an alternative SUV for loyal consumers or those wanting to upgrade from Xpander, while also reaching customers from other brands," stated Irwan.

Domestic production of the Destinator is being ramped up, with a normal capacity of about 2,000 units per month. So far, around 6,000 units have been produced, though the 12,000-unit annual export target is seen as challenging. "Although the 12,000-unit target is quite challenging, we are working hard to achieve it," added Irwan.

This export initiative coincides with Mitsubishi's 55th anniversary in Indonesia, used to reinforce competitiveness through products and services. The approach mirrors previous exports of the Xpander to various regional countries, highlighting Mitsubishi's commitment to ASEAN market expansion.
