Mjällby AIF has become Swedish football champions for the first time in the club's 85-year history. The title was secured with a 2–0 away win against IFK Göteborg at Gamla Ullevi. Veterans Jacob Bergström and Tom Pettersson scored the goals in a dominant match.

On Monday, October 20, 2025, Mjällby AIF secured the Allsvenskan SM title with a 2–0 away win against IFK Göteborg in Göteborg. The first goal came early: in the 21st minute, Jacob Bergström scored with a bicycle kick from one meter out, his fourth goal of the season. Seven minutes later, Tom Pettersson made it 2–0 after a rebound from Elis Bishesari in a tight situation.

Mjällby dominated the first half and skillfully managed the game in the second, without any drama in front of the traveling away fans. The victory brought the team to 66 points with three rounds left, just one point shy of the Allsvenskan record of 67 points set by Malmö in 2010 and AIK in 2018. The club now has 19 straight matches without a loss and only one defeat in 27 rounds total.

This is Mjällby's first SM title ever, just seven years after playing in division 1. Coach Anders Torstensson was not surprised: "I am not surprised," he said afterward. He also called the win surreal: "Little damn Mjällby, Swedish champions. It's unreal." Jacob Bergström was euphoric: "Now I can die happy" and "Doing it together with the teammates. There's nothing better, I love the shit."

SVT Sport expert Magnus Eriksson praised the performance: "It's extremely big for a team that has performed very well from the start all the way in. One loss in 27 rounds, then you deserve to win the SM gold." The title means Mjällby will qualify for the Champions League next season. The club from Blekinge has gone from a small town team to sensational champions.
