Nakuru governor Kihika and husband own luxury hotel near state house

One day after MPs raised concerns about tall buildings near Nakuru State House, Sam Mburu confirmed that he and his wife, Governor Susan Kihika, own the Encore Hotel. The luxury hotel has over 200 rooms and was built at a cost of billions of shillings.

Taifa Leo has revealed that the Encore Hotel, built near Nakuru State House, is owned by Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika and her husband Sam Mburu. One day after MPs expressed concerns about the increase in tall buildings in the area, including this luxury hotel with over 200 rooms, Mr. Mburu confirmed his ownership.

In a phone interview with Taifa Leo, Mr. Mburu stated, “I confirm that I am the owner of Encore Hotel and we obtained all necessary approvals before construction began. A project of this scale requires proper permits, and we got them all.” He emphasized that the hotel's location does not affect the security of the State House, as they secured all required approvals from the county government and national agencies.

David Mwangi, Chairman of the Nakuru Tourism Association and project supervisor, added that they obtained all necessary permits, including an environmental impact assessment from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and building plan approvals from the government. The luxury hotel is expected to boost the tourism sector in Nakuru County, though MPs' concerns focused on security and the impact of these buildings near the State House.
