Newport Jazz Festival announces 2026 lineup with Thundercat and Herbie Hancock

The Newport Jazz Festival has confirmed its lineup for the 72nd edition, returning to Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island from July 31 through August 2. Artists include Thundercat, Angine de Poitrine, Little Simz, Herbie Hancock, Gary Clark Jr., and Flea with his Honora Band. The event will also feature tributes to jazz legends John Coltrane and Miles Davis.

Organizers of the Newport Jazz Festival revealed the performers for this summer's event, as first reported by Pitchfork. The lineup highlights a mix of jazz, funk, and contemporary acts, with Herbie Hancock, Arlo Parks, Anoushka Shankar, and Gena among the confirmed artists. Flea will perform with his Honora Band, adding a rock edge to the proceedings. Robert Glasper joins Bilal and Ari Lennox, while Jon Batiste takes the stage with his Jonathan Batiste Trio, featuring drummer Joe Saylor and bassist Phil Kuehn on bass. Kamasi Washington and trumpeter Chief Adjuah will lead a special show celebrating the 100th birthdays of John Coltrane and Miles Davis. The festival follows last year's edition at the same venue, which included The Roots, De La Soul, Janelle Monáe, Jorja Smith, Esperanza Spalding, and Terence Blanchard.
