Nybro Vikings granted elite license for 2026/27 season

Nybro Vikings has secured its elite license for the 2026/27 season after addressing economic challenges. The club submitted and received approval for a detailed action plan.

Nybro Vikings faced financial difficulties during the spring and was required to present a credible plan to retain its elite license. The approval now confirms that the plan meets the necessary requirements.

Club director Anders Westring described the decision as a relief. "It feels fantastically good. I think we have a good plan. We have cleared away everything that exists and now we start from zero," he told Barometern-OT.

The club reduced its player budget, cut travel costs and prepared a budget showing a surplus. Additional potential revenues, including compensation linked to NHL player Alex Ciernik, were noted but not included in the calculations. Westring added that the sporting plans remain unaffected and that the team looks more exciting than last year.
