Cuban singer and rapper OVI has signed an exclusive recording deal with Universal Music Latino. The agreement comes as the artist prepares to release a new album featuring his upcoming single 'Cash' with Almighty. OVI described the partnership as a major step forward in his career.
OVI, born Ovidio Crespo Retureta in Ciego de Ávila, Cuba, and now based in Miami, announced the deal on Monday. Duarte Figueira, senior vice president of A&R at Universal Music Latino, and Daniel Luna, the label's general manager, attended the signing ceremony. In a press statement, OVI said, “I’m incredibly excited about this stage of my life because I feel that, for the first time, I’m going to have a real team by my side, supporting me through the good and the bad.” He added, “That means the most to me, and I know that with Universal Latino’s new team, my music will reach new heights.”
